Kia Sorento has once again been spotted testing on Indian roads, adding fresh excitement around its possible India launch. This premium SUV was seen under heavy camouflage during highway testing, and repeated sightings now strongly suggest Kia is seriously evaluating the Sorento for the Indian market.
The latest car reveals a large and muscular SUV with a strong road presence. Even with camouflage, several key styling details are visible, including vertically stacked LED headlamps, slim LED DRLs, a wide signature grille and large dual-tone alloy wheels. The SUV also gets flush-fitting door handles, roof rails and a boxy rear section that gives it a premium global SUV look.

Compared to Kia’s current India lineup, the Sorento appears significantly larger than both the Seltos and Carens. Internationally, the SUV measures over 4.8 metres in length and comes with a long wheelbase, allowing it to offer a spacious three-row cabin suitable for family buyers.
One major detail spotted in the test vehicle is the rotary gear selector inside the cabin. This hints that Kia could be testing the hybrid version of the Sorento in India. Reports suggest the company is preparing to expand its hybrid vehicle portfolio in the country, and the Sorento may play an important role in that strategy.
Globally, the Kia Sorento is available with multiple engine options, including turbo-petrol, diesel, hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains. However, the India-spec model is expected to arrive with a strong hybrid setup using a turbo-petrol engine paired with an electric motor. The same hybrid technology may also appear in future Kia and Hyundai models for India.
If launched with hybrid power, the Sorento could become one of the few premium seven-seater hybrid SUVs in the Indian market. This would help it stand apart from traditional diesel-powered rivals while also offering better fuel efficiency and smoother city driving.
The cabin of the global-spec Sorento is already known for its premium layout and feature-rich design. It gets dual digital displays, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, connected car technology, wireless charging and Level 2 ADAS safety features. Similar equipment is expected to be offered in the India-bound version as well.
The SUV’s upright proportions and bold styling also give it a more luxurious appearance compared to many existing premium SUVs in India. Kia could position the Sorento as a modern family SUV aimed at buyers looking for comfort, technology and hybrid efficiency in one package.
Once launched, the Sorento is expected to compete against models like the Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian, MG Gloster and Skoda Kodiaq. However, its hybrid technology and feature-loaded cabin could give it a unique advantage in the segment.
Kia Sorento Price in India
Industry reports suggest Kia may introduce the Sorento in India sometime in 2026, although the company has not officially confirmed the launch timeline yet. Pricing is expected to begin from around Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom), placing it in the premium SUV category.
With repeated India sightings, hybrid technology and a spacious seven-seat layout, the Kia Sorento is slowly shaping up to be one of the most anticipated premium SUV launches for the Indian market.
